It's your road and yours alone, others may walk it with you but no one can walk it for you.

About me
Robin Beauly Austin

BeaulyArt is the website of artist, illustrator and designer Robin Beauly Austin.

Beauly is a family name; it is also a small town in the Highlands of Scotland. Ironically his family is from Dumfries in the south of Scotland. To make things more complicated, Robin was born in Ramsgate in the south of England and grew up in Coventry in the middle of England. Phew, I'm glad we got that cleared up!

Robin’s love of art, developed from an early age, led him to eventually gain a BA in Technical Graphic Design at The Lanchester Polytechnic in Coventry, he then went on to study for a Master’s in Automotive Design at the Royal College of Art in London.

His creative working life began as a clay modeler, developing full size clay models of cars. This evolved over time into designing those cars. That career lasted 48 years, working in 12 different countries. He also had the desire to produce his own art, without the constraints of automotive design management, however due to heavy workloads, family and life in general it was not  possible to realise that dream.

Like many creative people Robin is dyslexic. When he went to school it was not recognised and therefore, he struggled with reading and writing. Nowadays it's seen as a gift, as he has always been able to see ideas in his head and put them down onto paper, quite simply he is a 'picture thinker’.

These days, with time to think and concentrate, he has developed a range of eclectic and diverse pieces of work. There are three categories to the website at present, Shakespearean Characters, Fantasy Art and Abstract Wildlife.

Living in Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace, he says “If I lived by the sea, I would probably paint the sea. I live in Stratford upon Avon so I paint Shakespeare”.

His Fantasy Art is straight from his imagination and he enjoys dreaming up the characters and putting them into an environment.

The Abstract wildlife is new for him and he hopes it will develop into something special where you take a wildlife image and transform it into a seemingly moving object or abstract pattern.

Please dive in and explore Robin’s work. He hopes you enjoy it and all comments are welcome.
